GOOD NEWS FROM THE COSTA DEL SOL

GOOD NEWS FROM THE COSTA DEL SOL

Things are very much looking up for the summer and Autumn on the Costa del Sol.

It´s been a long winter for everyone here and abroad and thankfully the worst restrictions are easing up due to an increase in vaccinations all over Europe and the contagion numbers dropping considerably.

Children are now allowed out to enjoy some fresh air and play if they´re accompanied by a guardian. A gradual de-escalation is expected as from the 22nd of June, providing the contagion numbers continue decreasing.

The president of the regional government of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno, has announced the new restrictions that will be applied in Andalusia once the “State of Alarm” ends on the 9th of May. Last Thursday, after the meeting with the Committee of Experts, the Andalusian leader explained that as of this Sunday the de-escalation will be carried out in three phases:

– Phase 1, easing of restrictions: May 9-31.

– Phase 2, further easing of restrictions: June 1-21.

– Phase 3, normalization: June 21 onwards.

GOODBYE TO THE PERIMETRAL CLOSURES AND CURFEWS.

One of the novelties is that the perimeter closure of the community will disappear: “From now on it will be possible to leave and enter Andalusia freely,” explained president Juanma Moreno. Only municipalities with a cumulative incidence of more than 1,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants after 14 days will be closed, although judicial ratification will be required to implement these measures.

The curfew will also be eliminated and the hotel industry will be able to remain open until 00:00 hours. Likewise, the current number of limitations for gatherings in restaurants are increased. As of this Sunday, eight people will be able to sit at the same table indoors and up to ten outside on a terrace.

NIGHTCLUBS WILL RE-OPEN

Another of the announcements made by Moreno was the return of nightclubs “after a year of being closed.” They will be able to open until 2 am and the dance floors will only be enabled in towns that are in “level 1”. Wearing a mask and maintaining the safety distance will remain obligatory.

For shows and bullfights, it will be necessary to leave a free seat between spectators in phase 1 of the de-escalation. There will be no time limitations for swimming pools and beaches.

The maximum capacity for any type of celebration/special event will be 300 guests indoors, while outdoor events are allowed up to 500 guests. This will depend on the case level of each municipality, and there will be no restrictions on the number of people in private gatherings.

WE´RE NOT LETTING OUR GUARDS DOWN

Although these measures will progressively be relaxed during this period, Moreno insisted on the need to continue to be cautious: “On Sunday the final phase against the pandemic will begin and if everything goes well in a month and a half we will reach a phase similar to what our life was before the Coronavirus. Let’s continue to protect ourselves and others around us by following these rules, it is not worth letting our guard down.

All in all, this is great news for both travelers and the hospitality industry in Andalusia and will certainly encourage holidaymakers to come and enjoy the wonderful lifestyle here.

At Caribasol we´re keeping all hygiene measures in place, both in our office and our rental properties (ozone cleaning is optional). We wear masks at all times and have disinfectant gel handy everywhere we go.

We´d like to remind you that if you´re coming to Andalusia and staying in regulated accommodation you can apply for free Covid health insurance provided by the regional government. You can apply for it here:
